College Valley Echo

College Valley Echo

I produced a series of landscape oil paintings titled ‘3,000 miles of colour’, which were based on a road trip around the south of England and Wales to celebrate my 60th birthday in early 2024. The distinctive look about them was the very colourful palette, based on the very fiery winter sunrises and sunsets I witnessed on that trip. During the summer of 2024 I was working closer to home in Northumberland and the colour palette changed accordingly with much more green, as befits a good British summer.
This particular painting is of one of my favourite places, the College Valley. A place of serene peace and quiet, where all you might hear is birdsong and the wind. I entered this piece in the Northen Summer Exhibition at Newcastle Arts Centre, where it was snapped up by someone who loves the valley as much as I do.
