Artist Residency

Drawn to the light

Exhibition of works created on or about the island of Lindisfarne in 2025

Summer Artists Residency at St Cuthberts Centre, Holy Island, Northumberland 18th to 25th September 2025

The work will be on show from Friday 19th until Wednesday 24th September
Where I will be on hand possibly making new work too.

As part of my residency, I will be offering two workshops at the centre.

Sat 20th Sept 12.30 – 6pm – sculpture from your recycling bin and other everyday items.

Making something from seemingly nothing has always interested me from being a child. I started to experiment with paper mache and the contents of my studio recycling bin during 2018. Since then I have made several quite complex figures using easily obtainable, cheap or free materials.

In this workshop, I will share with you how to create sculpted figures. You don’t need any particular skill, you do need to have fairly nimble hands and be willing to get them messy.

The workshop lasts for as long as the tide, but it is up to you how long you stay

All materials are provided. Just bring a little imagination.
The cost of the workshop is £30 per person and needs to be booked in advance with me. You can do this by emailing me gailecurry@hotmail.com

Tea and coffee is included. Bring your packed lunch if you wish.
The workshop takes place in St Cuthberts centre on the island, which is the chapel next to the Lindisfarne Mead shop.

Tues 23rd Sept 11am to 1.30pm – painting meditative mandala stones

Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle. In this workshop, you can enjoy a slow meditative taste of dot painting on stone. Designs can be simple or complex depending on your sense of adventure and patience.
No particular skill or experience is necessary.
