Summer Moon & Winter Moon 

Quite often my paintings involve thickly painted impasto, or the creation of numerous layers to give a physical texture to the painting. With these two paintings I wanted to see if I could create a painting using minimal colours and volume. To do it I had to use brushes, which I’m not a big fan of, but perhaps these two have encouraged me to use them more now. The only time I really feel drawn to the sea is towards evening or when a new moon is due. I think of these two paintings as a meditation on the moon.
