Reflections on a turning tide

I don’t know what my connection to Holy Island in Northumberland is, I have never been able to credit it with any one thing. I just know that connection has never waivered and although I have travelled widely the island is still my favourite place in this world. If I had to choose a favourite time of year to visit it would be the winter, when the elements are at their wildest, wind and sea warring against the shore. This painting is one such early morning, where the sun brought a colourful peace to the shore as the tide began to rise and the winter sunrise reflected upon it as it covered the causeway.
