Turning Tide, Lindisfarne
As someone who has to work at remaining grounded in certain situations and environments because of post traumatic stress, I have a visual place of safety in my head, where I can go to mentally if the need arises. This is that place.
Unusually for me, it’s a work in oils on paper. I created this painting at the beginning of my winter stay on Lindisfarne, in January 2025. I wasn’t very well prepared for my trip in terms of equipment, as I had just been given a diagnosis for a fairly challenging tumour. I decided I need time on my island and some paint to prepare me for the treatment. I sat on a bench and entertained some fellow visitors as I created it with half a bank card and my fingers.
